Kütahya is one of the world’s leading ceramic production centers, with a deep-rooted tradition that spans centuries. Among its distinctive techniques, the so-called “lace ceramic” method stands out as a unique and refined form of craftsmanship.

The lace ceramic technique involves creating delicate, perforated, and lace-like patterns on the surface of ceramic pieces. It takes its name from its resemblance to real lace fabric. During production, artisans carefully carve and cut intricate patterns onto the semi-dried ceramic form using specialized hand tools. This process requires exceptional precision, patience, and mastery to preserve the integrity of the design.

Since each piece is entirely handcrafted, every item is unique and differs from mass-produced ceramics. The interplay of light and shadow through the carved patterns gives the pieces a refined, three-dimensional aesthetic. This technique is commonly used in decorative objects, vases, plates, and lighting designs.
